Keen swimmers will enjoy themselves to the full. The large and small Montiggler Lakes are about 5 km and South Tyrol’s largest and warmest lake for swimming, Lake Kaltern is only about 10 km distant. We swim here from as early as mid-May until the beginning of October. The water reaches a temperature of 17-19°C already in the second half of May and even 26-28°C in summer.

You will also find Montiggler Lido at the large lake. It has a heated swimming pool and South Tyrol’s longest water slide.

You will find more than 180 castles, country houses and manor-houses in South Tyrol. Some castles are mighty fortresses, built in steep faces of rock. Others nestle in vineyards or look down from a hill into the valley.

Most of them are accessible to visitors: walls, battlements, knights’ halls and chapels convey a flavour of times long past.

Wine connoisseurs, gourmets and all fans of local and sophisticated cuisine do not lose out in Eppan and its surroundings. It is certainly easier to feel joie de vivre in this wine-growing region than elsewhere.
